Our gîte is ideally located in the heart of the Belgian Ardennes in a region full of outdoor & indoor activities. Whether in summer or winter, you will easily find something to occupy your days with activities that will delight both young and old.
Below is a non-exhaustive list of recommended activities. However, we are at your disposal if you need more information about any of them to make the most of your stay.
A few kilometers from the gîte are the lakes of Bütgenbach (7km) and Robertville (9km). Both offer the possibility of swimming in the lake and enjoying the beach, kayaking, pedal boating, stand-up paddling…
Various hikes are also possible around the lakes.
Our entire region has fully marked trails offering hikes of different distances. Visit the Malmedy tourist office for all necessary information.
Numerous “ULTRATRAIL” routes are also marked, allowing you to fully enjoy the most beautiful landscapes in nature. Routes can be done by running or walking. Note: these are not suitable for strollers.
Not far from the gîte, you can also find beautiful hikes in the German-speaking part. The Ostbelgien network (Eastern Cantons) alone offers over 1300 km of walks in nature!
Passing 500 meters from “L’Hirondelle,” the RAVEL is a comfortable and secure network of greenways arranged on old railway lines (many possible destinations).
This is the perfect place for family outings, whether on foot, by bike, or rollerblading… It will allow you to easily reach the villages (Waimes, Weywertz, Bütgenbach) and towns (Malmedy, Stavelot, Saint-Vith, Montjoie) of the region.
The sports center in the nearby village (Bütgenbach, 7km away) offers a variety of indoor and outdoor activities: indoor swimming pool, multisport hall, tennis courts, large lake with beach, tree climbing, kayaking, hiking, seasonal fishing, archery …
This magnificent castle (9km) dating from the 14th century overlooks the Warche. A small restaurant is available on site where you can taste the castle’s beer. And why not combine your visit with an archery initiation or a nice hike? Good to know: this beautiful castle is near the lake of Robertville.
The tourist and cultural space of Malmedy is located in a former monastery (11km). You will discover museums, workshops on leather, paper and its manufacture, the carnival, the cathedral’s treasure, as well as temporary exhibitions.
With its breathtaking landscapes, vast peat bogs, dense forests, and sparkling lakes, the Hautes-Fagnes (14km) offer an unforgettable experience for nature lovers and outdoor enthusiasts. Explore the many hiking trails on foot, by bike, or mountain bike and be amazed by the diversity of landscapes and the richness of fauna and flora. The highest point in Belgium (Botrange, where you will find the Park House) and the Mont-Rigi site are two great starting points for numerous hikes.
With its brewery located at the highest point in Belgium (close to the Botrange signal and Baraque Michel), the Belgium Peak Beer brewery (14km) offers a range of beers with regional flavors brewed with Hautes-Fagnes water in a unique environment.
This is a family-run microbrewery (9km) that will introduce you to its passionately and carefully brewed beers: Blonde, Brune, Blanche, Black Lager, Malmedy Triple, as well as the Malmedy Quadruple and limited edition brews. The brewery also produces a range of non-alcoholic sodas and lemonades. From the brewery, you will discover several hiking possibilities.
In this neighboring village (16km), you can explore an old slate mine. During the visit, you will have the opportunity to admire the gigantic rooms where Recht slate was mined. Just a few steps away, the Biermuseum (beer museum) offers small catering and beer tasting. A must-visit if you decide to explore the area!
Located in the Stavelot Abbey (19km), this museum traces the history of the famous Spa-Francorchamps circuit. Numerous vehicles are on display.
This legendary circuit (20km) is one of the most demanding in the world. Known for its fast corners, Raidillon climb, and famous Kemmel straight, it offers a unique experience for motorsport enthusiasts. The circuit hosts numerous other sporting events almost every weekend of the year!
If you feel like discovering the region in a new and fun way, AT Bike (5km) offers the possibility of renting a mountain bike (electric or not) for the day or taking a guided tour on an e-scooter.
Located just 16km from the gîte, you will have the opportunity to experience something unique: crossing the nature park on a rail bike! It’s a 14km escape pedaling on an old railway line. Each “bike” is designed for 2 to 4 adults or 2 adults and 3 children, perfect for sharing a fun moment with family or friends!

To entertain yourself in the evening or on a rainy day, S’pace Malmedy (11km) offers 12 bowling lanes, all adjustable for children and adults, as well as a 150 m² arcade zone.
In Coo (26km), you will find a nice amusement park that will delight all children. Plop, Bumba, Maya, and all their other heroes will of course be there too!
Coo Adventure (26km) is a must in the region where you will find all kinds of activities, calm or full of adrenaline, to share with family or friends (rafting, paintball, kayaking, tree climbing, wild park, caving, street turtle, quad biking…).
With its 800 m² of indoor and outdoor baths, saunas, hammams, and relaxation areas, this thermal center in Spa (32km) is the perfect place to take care of yourself and relax during your stay.
In winter, you will have many opportunities to indulge in sliding sports: alpine skiing slopes in Ovifat (12km), sledging slopes in the village itself, cross-country skiing trails in neighboring villages.
